Lake Buena Vista, FL June 29, 2015 – The AAU announced today it has partnered with Baseline Hoop Sports Scouting Service to rank the top players competing in AAU Boys Basketball events this summer.

This new evaluative effort is led by Van Johnson Jr, Director of Scouting for Baseline Hoop Sports Scouting Service, a national service that provides in-depth scouting reports and basketball information about high school players to colleges.  For the past twenty-four years, Johnson has scouted the northeast region and national scene, served as tournament director for the Nike Peach Invitational Tournament, league director for the Nike Pro City Summer and AAU Basketball National Commissioner for eleven (11) years.

“Van and his team bring decades of basketball knowledge to the AAU’s new ranking initiative,” said Boo Williams, AAU Boys Basketball National Chair and winner of the 2013 Basketball Hall of Fame Human Spirit Award.  “Their experience in evaluating the top basketball players brings instant credibility to AAU’s new ranking program.”

Baseline Hoop Sports Scouting Service gives up-to-date insight into the talent rich world of boys’ basketball.  It offers comprehensive coverage of the elite players and teams throughout the country as well as a list of the top seniors, juniors, sophomores and freshmen each year.

Baseline Hoop Sports staff will be evaluating basketball talent at the following 2015 AAU National Championship events: AAU 13U Div. I & II National Championship, July 1 - July 8, in Greensboro, NC, the AAU 14U Div. I & II National Championship July 17 - July 23, in Orlando, Florida and the AAU 12U Div. I National Championship, July 22 – 28, in Hampton, Virginia.

The Baseline Hoops Sports staff has numerous years of coaching, playing, recruiting and evaluative experience at all levels of basketball.  Rankings will be found at www.aauboysbasketball.org

“AAU Boys Basketball events continue to be the premier place for college coaches to see elite players in the country compete,” said Boo Williams. “Partnering with Baseline Hoops Sports adds value to our events and gives formal recognition to athletes playing AAU.

Over eight hundred (800) college coaches are expected to attend AAU Boys National Championship events in 2015 to watch the next collegiate stars in action.

The partnership is just one more thing that differentiates AAU from other basketball organizations.  

In the 2015 NBA draft, 26 out of 30 first round picks were AAU Alumni including the first, second and third picks in the draft.  Numerous AAU Boys Basketball alumni have gone on to play in college and the NBA including Chris Paul, Mike Conley and OJ Mayo.  Other notable AAU alumni include Dwayne Wade and Andre Iguodala, as well as Kyrie Irving, DeMarcus Cousins and Andrew Wiggins
